Help keep preservation moving forward.

If you believe in the power of Pennsylvania’s historic places, your support is needed to help turn belief into action statewide. As an independent nonprofit, we exist solely through the generosity of our donors and members. With your support, we advocate, educate and assist communities working to protect what matters most.
Advocacy
We work at the national, state and local levels to advocate for positive preservation policies. Our efforts included a statewide campaign to save the federal historic preservation tax credit from being eliminated and to reauthorize the state-level credit before its sunset date.
Pennsylvania At Risk
We partner with local advocates to save historic properties threatened by demolition, neglect or development pressure. Your donation or membership enables us to raise awareness, rally support, and inspire creative solutions to protect what matters most. Your gift helps keep Pennsylvania’s irreplaceable stories alive.
Education
From the Pennsylvania Statewide Conference on Heritage to one-off workshops on topics ranging from tax credits to adaptive reuse and the power of preservation, Preservation Pennsylvania offers opportunities to learn how the best and brightest are making preservation matter and how to use those skills to bring about change in your own community.
Technical Assistance
As Pennsylvania’s only independent, statewide historic preservation nonprofit, we serve as a trusted resource – linking individuals and organizations to the information to turn challenges into progress. Preservationists rely on us for practical guidance, trusted connections, and insight gained from decades of hands-on preservation work.
There are a number of ways to give:
Your one-time or recurring gift helps us stand up for the historic places that matter most – through advocacy, education and real solutions. A monthly gift lets you give steadily and simply, without worrying about renewals.
Be sure to ask your employer about gift matching to make your generosity go even further.
Membership is one of the most meaningful ways to stand with Pennsylvania’s historic places. Open to both individuals and businesses, we offer a range of levels so there’s a fit for everyone who cares about preservation.
Membership strengthens a united voice for preservation – advancing smart policy and helping communities protect meaningful places. We offer a number of membership options so you can select the level that works best for you.
Students: Please email Mindy Crawford with your information and an image of your valid student ID to receive a free one-year digital-level membership.

We invite you to include a note about why supporting historic preservation through Preservation Pennsylvania matters to you.
By sponsoring our Statewide Conference on Heritage or our Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards, individuals and businesses play a vital role in advancing preservation across Pennsylvania. Sponsors are acknowledged through event materials and our digital communications. This support enables us to convene preservation leaders and advocates for engaging, well-executed events that educate, inspire, celebrate excellence, and connect communities.
Since Preservation Pennsylvania’s founding in 1982, the organization has been the beneficiary of foresighted individuals and couples who have included Preservation Pennsylvania in their estate plans. These generous contributions give dividends far into the future, providing our organization with the capacity to sustain operations and enhance and/or endow our services to individuals and communities all across the Commonwealth.
Gift by bequest is the most common means of making a planned gift to Preservation Pennsylvania; however, there are many gift options available, including charitable gift annuities, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, and naming Preservation Pennsylvania as the beneficiary of life insurance policies.
We encourage you to consult with your attorney, financial advisor and/or accountant to discuss planned giving options – and their tax implications – to determine the most beneficial avenue for your personal circumstances. If you or your advisors would like more information about making a planned gift to Preservation Pennsylvania, please contact Mindy Crawford at 717.234.2310.
“Enclosed is my annual gift to Preservation Pennsylvania.. I am happy to support an organization that is at the forefront of preservation efforts in Pennsylvania! Your work is important and vital. Please continue all of your efforts to preserve old historic buildings.”
