If you believe in the power of Pennsylvania's historic places, we need your financial support. We exist through the generosity of our donors, who make it possible to advocate for positive preservation policies and incentives and provide technical assistance to citizens across the state.

LEGACY PLANNING

Since Preservation Pennsylvania's founding in 1982, the organization has been the beneficiary of foresighted individuals and couples who have included Preservation Pennsylvania in their estate plans. These generous contributions give dividends far into the future, providing our organization with the capacity to sustain operations and enhance and/or endow our services to individuals and communities all across the Commonwealth.

Gift by bequest is the most common means of making a planned gift to Preservation Pennsylvania; however there are many gift options available, including charitable gift annuities, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, and naming Preservation Pennsylvania as the beneficiary of life insurance policies.

We encourage you to consult with your attorney, financial advisor and/or accountant to discuss the planned giving option—and its tax-implications—most beneficial for your personal circumstances. If you or your advisors would like more information about making a planned gift to Preservation Pennsylvania, please contact Mindy Crawford at (717) 234-2310 x2.

How your donations make change

Advocacy

We work at the national, state and local levels to advocate for positive preservation policies. Our efforts included a statewide campaign to save the federal historic preservation tax credit from being eliminated and to reauthorize the state level credit before its sunset date.

Pennsylvania At risk

We work with local advocates to save special places with meaning and memory across the state. Your membership shows you support their efforts. Your donation helps provide important funding for planning and preservation efforts.

Education

From the Pennsylvania Statewide Conference on Heritage to one-off workshops on topics ranging from tax credits to managing development, Preservation Pennsylvania offers opportunities to learn how the best and brightest are making preservation matter and how to use those skills to bring about change in your own community.

testimonial

"The Friends of Abolition Hall was in its infancy when Preservation Pennsylvania gave us the welcome news that the Corson Homestead would be included in the 2017 Pennsylvania At Risk. [The recognition] also affirmed our sense of the value of our struggle. . . .The articles and photos that followed the listing generated significant interest, which has further legitimized our efforts and enabled us to pursue our objections to the ill-conceived development plan for this once-busy stop on the Underground Railroad.”

— Sydelle Zove, convener of the Friends of Abolition Hall

"All you folks at Preservation Pa helped us so much this past year! . . . .[I]t's such a relief to have the new roof on #9. We are so grateful for everything that you and the staff and the volunteers helped us with....."

— Bob and Debbie Altizer, Lincoln Motor Court

“Thank you for your help with regard to our preservation project. Your comments were extremely helpful. In the process of getting feedback on our project, I got to know about Preservation Pennsylvania and how your organization diligently works to preserve and protect the Commonwealth’s rich heritage. Having learned about your organization, I felt it was important to support its goals. I have sent in a membership application and have also sent in a modest contribution from my donor-advised fund.”
