Nominations OPEN for the 2025 Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards!

Preservation Pennsylvania is happy to announce that nominations for the 2025 Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards open Friday, April 4! The nominations period closes Monday, May 19.

Each year since 1979, these awards have celebrated the very best of preservation work happening across the commonwealth – from sensitive home renovations and bold adaptive reuse projects, to powerful grassroots advocacy and extraordinary stewardship.

If you know someone (maybe even yourself!) doing inspiring preservation work in your community, now is the time to shine a spotlight on their efforts.

Why These Awards Matter

The Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards are more than a ceremony – they are a celebration of creativity, commitment and collaboration in preserving the places that tell Pennsylvania’s story. Each award honors the people, projects and partnerships that prove preservation isn’t about standing still – it’s about moving forward with respect for where we’ve been.

Award Categories

There are three major categories for recognition:

Construction Awards

From rehabilitation, restoration and adaptive reuse to new construction in historic districts and pre-construction documentation, this category showcases the craft of historic preservation.

Leadership Awards

These honor outstanding achievements in areas like climate adaptability, education, emergency response, grassroots advocacy, preservation planning, and public impact, including a special spotlight on transportation projects through the Ralph Modjeski Award.

Honor Awards

Reserved for individuals or groups whose long-standing dedication and impact in preservation are truly exceptional.

Who Should Apply?

Whether you’re a homeowner, small business owner, architect, historian, government official or a passionate advocate for your community, we welcome your nominations. Great preservation work is happening across Pennsylvania – help us share your success story with the world.
