  • “Groundbreaking” Preservation Success Story!

    Added to Pennsylvania At Risk in 2017, a milestone was reached as Mifflin Farm held a Preservation Celebration and Groundbreaking ceremony. The event marked the culmination of the seven-year effort to protect this invaluable site from development and set the stage for its transformation into the Susquehanna Discovery Center & Heritage Park

  • Places we love: Lincoln Motor Court

    This is a love letter – and an alert. The Lincoln Motor Court (Mann’s Choice, Bedford County) is for sale – the last of its kind along the fabled Lincoln Highway.

  • The Columbia–Wrightsville Bridge

    The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) proposed a comprehensive rehabilitation project for the historic Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge. Studies began in 2016. Work is anticipated to take place between the 2027 and 2031.

Abolition Hall Developer Withdraws!

Developer K. Hovnanian no longer has the historic Corson/Hovenden homestead in Plymouth Meeting (Montgomery County) under agreement of sale and has ended that agreement. The site includes Abolition Hall, built by George Corson to encourage conversation and understanding about anti-slavery efforts. The Corsons hosted Frederick Douglass, Letitia Mott and others in their efforts to gain support for the cause.

York County’s Hanover Theater, once “At Risk,” now slated for redevelopment

The Hanover Theater (originally State Theater) at 37-41 Frederick Street in downtown Hanover will be sold to a redevelopment group. The historic theater was named to Preservation Pennsylvania’s list of threatened and endangered historic properties in 2011.
